Dear Mr. or Ms. I think that our furnace (although in working condition) has already done the best and the rest of it and will need replacement. We have a split central system with the AC unit in the outside and the furnace with the blower in the basement. The AC unit, outside is not that old, but there is a leak somewhere, and a technician that came here last year to give maintenance to the furnace, told me that the AC unit is small for this house. I think he told me that this current one is 2 ton but I’m not sure and haven’t checked this number in detail. He told me at the same time that the furnace is too big for this house. His suggestion was that I needed a 90,000 BTU for the furnace and 2.5 or 3 Ton for the AC (I don’t remember well this one). His estimation method was counting the vents, which I know is not the best method for doing that. I want to get at least three estimates for replacing the units with new ones, but at the same time I do not want to deceive any installer by bringing him here to do an estimate if I’m sure I will not contract him. I think his time is as important as mine. So I decided to work a little bit before contacting any installer. In the internet there are several companies that sell these equipments and have an “equipment selector tool”. According with some of these I would need: Alpine Home air, 67.000 BTU and 2.5 ton while liberty wholesale supply, 90,000 BUT and 3 (2.6) ton; that is among others I looked around. A couple of these places even offer assistance finding contractors for the job. I did some calculations in an Excel spreadsheet and came out with 63,410 BUT heat loss for the furnace, and 33,834 BUT max heat gain for the AC. According to these numbers, I could better use a 67,000 BTU for a 92-95% efficient two stage Furnace and a 3 ton 13-16 SEER AC. Although I know that none of these numbers above are completely confident, I think they are a good start and whatever the best numbers are, they are going to be in the above range. Additionally, I have considered heavily using a Goodman brand product based on both, pricing and quality. At the same time, I want the selected system to be good qualifiers for energy programs rebates and/or discounts. So, if you want to give me a preliminary pricing and installation details based on the above numbers that will be OK with me; if you prefer otherwise to come by and do your own calculations, that is OK with me too (at the end it will be absolutely necessary). I could either buy the system online or buy it through you along with the installation. I would consider a full installation or, why not? Install it myself and contract a final check, charge & system start. (I need to get either because of warranty issues). I would like to talk to the plumber who did work at Franks' Basement Services did work in the basement. We were told that they could not fix the toilet until something was repaired by a licensed plumber.I would appreciate a call from the plumber so I understand what the problem is. We are without the toilet and sink we were promised would be replaced when Frank's completed the work in the basement. The work is done except they did not put back the toilet or install the new sink we bought. Thank you.
