Can I Flush It?

Whether or not an item can be flushed depends on two things, whether or not it breaks down and whether or not it will fit through your plumbing. Flushable items include toilet paper, cleaning solutions, and the obvious #1 and #2. So, what's not flushable?

  • Baby wipes and diapers - Absolutely not. These wipes are not designed to be flushed and most have a "Do Not Flush" message on the packaging. We know they can be pretty gross, but that isn't qualification for flushing.
  • Flushable wipes - Are these able to be flushed? Sure. Does that mean you should? No. Even if they have "Septic Safe" on the package, flushable wipes don't break down enough to not cause blockages.
  • Feminine Hygiene Products - For the love of all things good in the world, please stop flushing these. Products, packaging, applicators, no matter what they are made of do not belong in the toilet. They don't break down at all and will 100% cause a blockage somewhere in your system.
  • Rags - wash them with soap and water either by hand or in your washing machine. If whatever you were trying to wash out won't come out, throw them in the trash, not the toilet.
